Horror Addicts Guide to Life Author Spotlight: Pembroke Sinclair

23466108Pembroke Sinclair is an author who knows exactly what to do when zombies come calling. For Horror Addicts Guide To Life   Pembroke wrote an article called “Surviving Zombies” which lets all of us horror addicts know the best way to survive the zombie apocalypse. To read Pembroke’s article along with several other articles on living the horror lifestyle, pick up a copy of Horror Addicts Guide To LifeRecently Pembroke was nice enough to tell us what she likes about horror:

What do you like about the horror genre?

I really enjoy that the horror genre shows in extreme and metaphorical fashion what society is afraid of. I love dissecting and picking apart the meaning in the films where others just usually write them off as scary and gory.

What are some of your favorite horror movies, books or TV shows?

My favorite horror movie of all time is Aliens. It scared the hell out of me as a child, but also intrigued me. When I grow up, I want to be an Alien Queen.

I’m also a huge fan of slasher films and zombies. I’ll watch pretty much anything if they fall into those categories.16177830

In what way do you live the horror lifestyle?

I’m constantly aware of my surroundings so if the dead rise from the grave or a crazed killer shows up, I know how to get away or find a weapon to protect myself.

What are you currently working on?

At the moment, I’m working on my grandfather-in-law’s biography. He was in WWII and made advances in the ranching industry in Wyoming, so it’s been interesting to write.

The 3rd book in my Road to Salvation Series, Good Intentions, will be available in July. This YA series focuses on demons and the battle between good and evil.

After all of this is done, I’m planning another YA zombie novel.

Where can we find you online?

Zombie Author Profile: Jessica Robinson

What was the inspiration behind Undead Obsessed?

Undead Obsessed CoverI’ve always wanted to write about zombies, but I was never sure what I wanted to say. After watching World War Z, it hit me: science in zombie films. From there, the journey started, and I looked for ways in which science had failed society and how it could be the cause of zombies taking over the world.

What was the most important thing you learned from writing this book?

People were so nice and willing to talk to me about their professions—even if they thought what I was doing was slightly insane. Most of the people I interviewed weren’t zombie fans, but they were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and had great ideas of what could possibly create zombies. They were amazing to talk to, and I couldn’t have finished the book without them.

What would you do to survive the zombie apocalypse?

I’m pretty lucky in that I live in Wyoming. Our population is fairly low, and we have terrain that most zombies would find difficult to navigate. We also get really cold winters. So, to survive, I would fortify my house, wait for winter to roll around, then pick off the zombie popsicles at will.

If you had to battle a horde of zombies who would be a part of your zombie fighting dream team?

Since you said “dream team,” I’m going to assume they can be fictional characters. I would have: the Predator because of his cloaking ability; some Terminators because zombies wouldn’t go after them; some Jaegers from Pacific Rim because they can just step on the rotting corpses; and Ripley because if she can fight an Alien Queen, zombies will be no problem for her.

What other zombie books have you written?

I’ve written some young adult zombie novels—Life After the Undead and Death to the Undead—and a religious zombie novella, Finding Eden. I also have plans to write more in the future.

What are you working on now?

At the moment, I am finished up the third book in my young adult series called The Road to Salvation, which includes The Appeal of Evil and Dealing with Devils. When that is finished, that’s when I plan on working on my next zombie novel.

Meet Writer Pembroke Sinclair, #104

Jessica Robinson 2 BWOur featured author this week is Pembroke Sinclair. She is an author who enjoys writing zombie fiction and likes creating fantastic worlds and memorable characters. She is also a member of the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers and is on a committee to create membership criteria for iPAL, which is a sister group to the Published Authors Liaison group and focuses on independent and self-published authors.

This week, Pembroke Sinclair shares with us her story, “Silver Plantation”. It is the story of a man who feels he was wronged by the woman he loved, so he takes her and her new boyfriend to his plantation house to kill them.

So, let’s get to know Pembroke.

HA: What is your most recent work for sale and what is it about?

Pembroke: My most recent work, although it’s not for sale yet, is a nonfiction book about zombies called Undead Obsessed: Finding Meaning in Zombies. Using film, literature, and interviews with experts, it examines how zombies portray real-world fears such as epidemics, mind control, what may or may not exist in space, the repercussions of playing God, and the science behind the fears.

HA: What was the spookiest night of your life?

Pembroke: I used to date this guy who lived in a basement apartment. I always had horrific nightmares when I stayed there, and the upstairs neighbors had told us stories about a ghost that haunted the place. One night, I woke up in the middle of the night and saw a large shadowy figure right outside the doorway. I closed my eyes and told myself it wasn’t there, and when I opened them again, it was crouching next to the bed right in front of me.

YIKES!

The-Appeal-of-Evil-HRHA: How do you create stories and what is in your writers tool kit?

Pembroke: I use both pen/paper and a computer. It all depends on where I’m at and what is available. I don’t really have a writer’s tool kit. With a family and a full-time job, I squeeze writing in wherever, whenever I can!

HA: Who is one person you’d like to meet, living or dead?

Pembroke: Only one? There are so many people I would like to meet. At the moment, I would have to say it would be George Romero. I think an interview with him would be awesome for my nonfiction book.

HA: What is your favorite horror flick?

Pembroke: Aliens

HA: If you were to battle a hoard of zombies, who would be your dream team fighting next to you?

Pembroke: Robocop, some Terminators, the Predator, Ripley, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. We would totally kick some zombie ass!

HA: Where can Horror Addicts chat with you?

Pembroke: Facebook, and I’m on there under Jessica Robinson/Pembroke Sinclair.

Thank you, Pembroke for the chance to check out your work. Listen to her story on #104 of HorrorAddicts.net and to find out more about her, go to: pembrokesinclair.blogspot.com
